Our conference ‘Women in fintech #2’ gathered 300 participants who listened about current challenges and role of women in fintech sector, so vivid and growing in Luxembourg.
Audience was welcomed by our president, Marie-Adelaïde Gervis, who expressed her happinness in seeing full house and such interest in the subject.
Next we had a chance to hear Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of Luxemourg, who highlighted that we need more women in financial and fintech sectors. As he said, one of the responsibilities of politicians is to increse share of women in the industry by adjusting policies to those who allow parents to balance professional and personal lifes.
Isabelle Lebbe, partner in Arendt & Medernach, gave the keynote speech titled ‘Governance, diversity and talent’, in which she concluded that to gather talents – also women talents – companies need to be more open and flexible in managing cultural differences, communication between all its members and ways to ensure gender balance.
First panel ‘Skills for the future of banking’ that was moderated by our director, Marina Andrieu-Thiriet, where all speakers: Emilie Allaert (LHoFT), Jean Diederich (APSI), Isabelle Schlesser (ADEM) and Susanne Schartz (SEQVOIA) agreed that we need to attire more women to work in fintech in Luxembourg, because of the potential of this sector and yet uncovered potential of women.
The second panel – ‘Innovation: startups vs corporates’ provided the audience with an insight into big companies’ perspective on using solutions developed by startups, who are more agile and have the new, fresh perspective on processes in banking. Our panelists were: Marie-Hélène Massard (AXA), Karin Schintgen (House of Startups), Véronique de la Bachelerie (SGBT) and Astrid Wagner (Arendt & Medernach).
We finished the conference with networking coctail in beautiful lobby at Arendt House.
