The first Women in Fintech Conference took place on 24 March 2017 . Around 80 women and a dozen of men attended the event, hosted in RBC I&TS auditorium in Esch/Belval.

Louise Klaa, co-organizer with WIDE shared her own experience being a women in Fintech conferences and later being involved in developing Fintech projects at high level “I did not know that fintech was 18 month ago and here I am today”.

Marina Andrieu, our Director, presented WIDE’s achievements so far and the next steps for the Asbl. Why did WIDE organize a Fintech Conference? Fintech is revolutionising the financial services landscape. As the industry evolves, both men and women need to be involved in this process. Although the combination of “Fin” and “Tech” is already widening the gender gap, recent studies show that digital skills may be a woman’s most powerful professional asset.

The purpose of this conference was to provide our participants with a clear overview of the Fintech ecosystem in Luxembourg and to raise awareness of the opportunities offered to women in the Fintech Industry.

Many events are scheduled within weeks for WIDE, you better stay tunned!

The moderator of the panel, Pascal Denis (Partner, Head of Advisory Services, Member of the Executive Committee at KPMG Luxembourg), first shared his view on Fintech with the assembly.

Denis Voss (Chairman of ALFI) detailed how ALFI is promoting Fintech within the financial ecosystem. Regtech were part of the menu.

Time for the panel. Our speakers confronted their views on the best way to stimulate the Luxembourg Fintech ecosystem, and how women should embrace it. The questions and answers session gave the audience the opportunity to express its concerns on this topic. A particularly rich moment where the speakers invited women to network, to dare and jump without hesitation.

Be ready for the second edition of the Women in Fintech Conference, we are already planning it.
