1. Could you tell us more about your work?

I hold the position of postdoctoral researcher in Computer Science at the University of Luxembourg.

As a junior scientist, my work is dedicated to research in various aspects of Computer Science. During my scientific career, I have attempted to answer questions such as:

– How to interpret the results of machine learning algorithms in a human-understandable way;

– How to provide anonymity in digital communication systems;

– How tu use machine learning methods to identify factors that can influence desirable changes in a system;

– How to find the best solutions among non-comparable alternatives.

I enjoy my work as it allows me to learn something new every day.

2. What is your background?

I am originally from Ukraine. I got my Master’s degree in applied mathematics from the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.

After that, I continued my education as a PhD student through collaborative work between Ukraine, and the University of Lorraine, France. Shortly after my PhD defense, I started my current position at the University of Luxembourg.

3. In your opinion, what place do women have in the ICT sector? Do they belong there?

I have absolutely no doubts that every motivated woman does belong to this sector, as well as to any other sector she is interested in. The number of women is indeed less, however, I don’t see any qualitative difference in the work being done by my male and female colleagues. Thereby, I would encourage any interested woman to pursue her career in this fast-developing and so exciting, to my opinion, domain.
