Workshops with children about digital

For several months, Serena, our coding youth coach, taught about the digital field to children of Esch-sur-Alzette. The workshops were held on Thursdays at the UpFoundation.

With the use of Kniwwelino, a creative learning tool developed at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), the children learned how to do basic programming. The workshops aimed to teach the children a better understanding of what programming, robotics, and electronic devices are and how to use them. One goal was to help them understand how a computer thinks and how they can get the desired results while programming.

The workshop focused on engaging with the children in a fun and entertaining way. The sessions were supported by different kinds of games and creative exercises. A common teaching method for this area is trial and error. The kids were encouraged to experiment and solve mistakes by simply trying different options.

In the end, the participants were able to do basic programming using Kniwwelino as well as having a better understanding of what happening in the background, while giving commands.
